Egypt and Ethiopia are full BRICS members, Nigeria is a partner. The bank tells the real story.

Egypt and Ethiopia became full BRICS members on 1 January 2024, joining South Africa, while Nigeria holds the lesser partner-country status. Access to the bloc's New Development Bank is not automatic: Egypt is a bank member, Ethiopia is only a prospective member, and BRICS still has no common currency and no permanent secretariat.

  • VerifiedEgypt and Ethiopia became full BRICS members on 1 January 2024, joining South Africa, a member since 2011.

GoldBod pulled Ghana's small-scale gold into the open — and the numbers are striking

  • VerifiedGhana's Gold Board was created by the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025, as the sole authorised buyer of small-scale mined gold.
  • VerifiedOfficial small-scale gold exports rose from about 63 tonnes in 2024 to about 104 tonnes in 2025.
  • VerifiedSmall-scale gold exports generated $10.8 billion in foreign exchange in 2025.
