Names missing in Gombe, Ogun, Kano: the court ruling that redrew the 2027 governorship lists

When INEC published the final governorship lists for 2027, some of Nigeria's best-known candidates were not on them — including the PDP's Isa Pantami in Gombe and Ladi Adebutu in Ogun. INEC says it was applying a Supreme Court judgment on party membership registers. The affected parties say their candidates were properly registered. We checked both versions.

One highway, two prices: the fight over what the Lagos–Calabar road really costs per kilometre

Nigeria's coastal highway is being built — that much is not in dispute. What is in dispute is the maths. The Works Minister's figures work out near ₦7.5 billion per kilometre; his critics say the same contract works out near ₦22.5 billion. 'Judge my record': Ruto dares his rivals while the opposition shops for a single candidate

President William Ruto used Mashujaa Day in Eldoret to warn that the 'political transition' of 2022 'must not be reversed', and days earlier challenged rivals to match his record. The opposition's answer is a rolling series of rallies — and an unresolved argument about who should lead it into August 2027.
